The binding comprises an outer cover which contains several flexible plastics envelopes, containing the documents. Each envelope is placed successively on alternate sides of the central spine and is attached to this by heat welding. The envelopes are arranged singly or in groups, and each is heat welded down the long side nearest the spine and along the lower short side, forming a pocket. The portion attached to the spine is wide and flat and the envelope folds easily about the heat-welded seam when the file is closed.
