The machine is for preparing hot drinks, and consists of a boiler with a pipe supplying the cold water. It has a dispensing pipe for a charge of hot water and a section for preparing the drink. The heating element in the boiler can be adjusted so as to determine the amount of energy supplied. There is a control valve in the cold water supply pipe which also controls the energy supply. Control is via a sensor. There is a water consumption meter (13) in the supply pipe (2) which supplies an electrical signal. It is used to control one of the two stop valves (11,12) which has an electrical controller (31). The water consumption meter has a turbine placed in the supply line. The rotor is used to drive an electrical pulse generator (14) and a pulse counter.
