A breathing appts. for direct and indirect breathing uses a cuirass on the thorax of the patient. The breathing apparatus is supplied with a reciprocating flow medium. The breathing parameters can be adjusted by a control circuit. It sets the ratio of inhalation and exhalation, the frequency of inhalation and exhalation, the effective capacity of the lungs, etc. The effective capacity of the lungs is regulated by a pump. The breathing rhythm is achieved by a controlled motor (5).
