The anchoring system is intended for securing a structure, such as a greenhouse, to the ground (4) and is capable of absorbing vertical and horizontal forces in both directions. It comprises a vertical rod (1) which has a screw blade (3) at its lower end and is driven into the ground. At a level above the screw a radial anchoring element (9) is arranged in a plane at right angles to the rod. The element consists of concrete cast around reinforcing bars (6) fixed to the rod. A bush (7) fixed (12,13) to the rod may carry further reinforcing bars (8) at its lower end and there may be separate further reinforcement (10,11).
