The conductor carrying the HV is enclosed in a casing. It is connected to an overhead power line through a compressed gas insulated bushing in the wall in the switchgear building. A conductor (3) is mounted in the bushing (6) and in at least a part of casing (4). It is of tubular construction in order to carry a gas flow. Holes (10) are made for the gas flow in the free end (7) of bushing (6) and in a gas-tight insulator (8) supporting the conductor in the adjacent part of the casing (4a). Gas is circulated in the casing sections (9, 11) by a pumping unit (12).
