Microbicidal compositions consisting of 10-40 parts by weight of the salt of an alkyldiguanidine of the general formula I IMAGE in which R denotes C8-C18alkyl and m denotes a number from 2-6, and 10-40, preferably 20-30 parts by weight of a block polymer of the general formula II IMAGE in which a, b and c represent integers which are chosen such that the molecular weight of the block polymer is 1000 to 16,000 and the weight ratio of the polyoxyethylene chains comes to 10-90% of the total molecular weight, and the remainder is water and/or a short-chain, water-soluble alcohol.
