A process for placing an insulating structure made up elastic and, more specially, non-flammable insulating material between a floor structure and a ceiling under it and/or a separating wall, more specially over such a wall, characterized in that a number of insulating boards (1) made up of elastic insulating material, more specially glass or mineral fibres, are placed one on top of each other in a stack thicker than the distance between the floor structure and the ceiling under it and/or the separating wall, this stack is forced together to a thickness less than the distance between the floor structure and the ceiling under it and/or the separating wall and, in this condition, is placed at the desired position between the floor structure and the ceiling under it and/or the separating wall and then it is freed from the force acting on it and forcing it together.
