ABSTRACTDescribe a monopolar diaphragm electrolytic cellwith dimensionally stable anodes in which the anodes restfreely in the cell and are spring-pressed toward thephragms by spring-loaded transverse arms on the positivecurrent carriers, which in use contact, but are notmechanically connected to, the anodes, the spring-pressedelectrical contacts between the transverse arms and theanodes are sufficient to carry current to the anodes withoutsubstantial ohmic drop through these contacts and permitthe anodes to be removed from the cells for recoating andother purposes without destroying any welds or otherpermanent mechanical connections between the anodes andother portions of the cell.
