ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREA continuous mining machine comprising acentral longitudinally extending conveyor assembly, apair of cutting and conveying mechanisms mounted on theforward end of the central conveyor assembly for move-ment between a normal operating position wherein thecutting and conveying mechanisms are in alignment andextend laterally outwardly with respect to the forwardreceiving end of the conveyor assembly and a transport-ing position wherein the cutting and conveyingmechanisms are in parallel relation alongside thecentral potion of the conveyor assembly, the cuttingand conveying mechanisms having vertically movableendless track assemblies operable to more the continueous mining machine when the cutting and conveyingmechanisms are in the transporting position, and a pairof mine floor-to-roof anchoring canopy units for (1)advancing the continuous mining machine sot that thecutting and conveying mechanisms are moved inwardly ofthe working face, (2) facilitating the installation ofmine roof bolts at positions close to the working facewhile affording roof protection to the operators, and(3) effecting a 90° turning movement of the continuousmining machine.
