Abstract of the DisclosureA plate for lithography or offset printingcomprising a flexible substrate and a water-resistantcoating layer formed on said flexible substrate, saidwater-resistant coating layer being composed of awater-insoluble resin binder and an inorganic pigmentdispersed in said binder; and said water-resistantcoating layer including an oleophilic ink-supportingportion composed of particles consisting essentiallyof at least one member selected from triiron tetroxideand 1 or .gamma.-type diiron trioxide. said particles beingembedded in at least a part of the surface of saidcoating layer, and an etched hydrophilic ink-repellingportion composed of said inorganic pigment.
