The invention relates to an ink supply device for a roller-type inking unit in rotary printing machines with an ink duct roller (26) and a transfer roller (27, 33) which, apart from the ink duct roller, also interacts with one of the inking-unit rollers. The transfer roller (28) is mounted with play over its entire length on its control shaft (5). The circumferential surface of the transfer roller is of continuous design. The roller body of the transfer roller is designed to be flexible perpendicularly to its axis of rotation. Means are provided by which the transfer roller is pressed snugly over its whole length both against the ink duct roller and against the inking-unit roller. These means are omitted if the dead weight of the transfer roller guarantees snug contact of the circumferential surface of the transfer roller with the two adjacent rollers. Very thin ink films can be continuously transferred because, due to its flexibility and its special mounting, the transfer roller adapts completely to the shape of the two circumferential surfaces of both adjacent rollers.
