[Also in Division C5] Lubricants particularly petroleum lubricants and ester lubricants including simple esters such as dioctylazelate, pentaerythritoltetracaproate and complex esters such as the reaction product of 2-ethyl-1,3-hexanediol, sebacic acid and 2- ethylhexanoic acid may be refined by treatment with a glycidyl ester of an aliphatic acid having from 5 to 22 C atoms. The terminal epoxy group forms an ester which is itself a good lubricant with the free acid present in the lubricant.
