The upper chord (7) is made of light metal, plastics or other materials, pref. extruded, and is used in conjuction with lengths of window with flexible inserted crossbars. It is a continuous piece, in the form of an angled profile, with one shank firmly connected to the lintel (2). The open shank is carried into the continuous cutout (8) at the top end of the crossbar (6) with vertical play allowed. There may be a sliding rail (26) on the inside of the open shank to hold adjusting pieces (29) for different thicknesses of glass. The upper chord may be extruded material. This is simple and inexpensive, easily installed and light in weight.
