The monitoring device detects the end position of the movable rails of railway points. Each point to be monitored is fitted with ferro-magnetic matching piece that operates one of two electro-magnetic switches (S1 or S2) depending on the position of the rail. An additional switch can be fitted to indicate incorrect vertical movement of the rails. The device is fitted into a protective case mounted slightly away from the rails. The monitored signals can be used to indicate that many points are in use and reduced travelling speed is not necessary. A circuit to indicate the correct travelling speed is proposed.
