Sandwich panel suitable for inside of roller shutter housing - has wood wool and cement core between metal and plastics foam layers

A lightweight decorative sandwich panel with a core made from wood wool is made by a method of which is also adapted for making the inside surfaces of housings for roller shutter blinds. Liquid cement is mixed with the wood wool, and the product compressed to form the core. This compressing operation can be carried out between adhesive coated metal layers. The adhesive can be bitumen or tar. After removal from the press, the plate can be heated on both sides to a temperature between 100 and 120 deg.C. While still hot, a plastics foam layer is applied and compressed by rollers. A further decorative layer can then be applied.
