The input electrode is formed as a shell electrode enveloping the conversion vol. partially or wholly so that the capacitance created between the space charge and the sheath electrode lessens in the direction of beam propagation. An isolating vol. with definite contour is pref. provided between the shell electrode and the conversion vol. At least a part of the conversion vol. is directly limited by the shell electrode. The enclosed free radiation of the conversion vol. is surrounded by an isolating vol. that is either gas-filled or evacuated. The isolator can be created by solid insulating material or a solid sleeve building a vol. that is filled either with gas or an insulating liq. or evacuated.
