Lactobacillus preparation is obtd. by cultivating Lactobacillus in a nutrient medium contg. additionally =1 of (a) S cpd. (e.g. Na2S, H2S), (b) N cpd. (e.g. NH3, indole, skatole) and (c) C cpd. such as lower fatty acid (e.g. acetic acid, propionic acid, butyric acid). The preparation is useful in treatment of inflammatory diseases such as nasal inflammation, gastritis, pyrrhoea, piles or perineal tear. Examples of the strain of Lactobacillus are L 1027-28, L 1020-B-19, L 1020 C-20, L 1030-10, and L 103 C-17. The nutrient medium is S-W culture medium comprising KH2PO4 (1 g), MgSO4. 7H2O (0.7 g), (NaCl (1 g), (NH4)2HPO4 (4 g), FeSO4. 7H2O (0.03 g) and glucose (5 g).
