The detector has two separate timing circuits. Each circuit has at least two shift register loops of variable length. The outputs of the registers are passed to a coincidence circuit. When a triggering pulse appears only one register stage of each register is set; all the remaining stages remain reset. The advantage lies in the relatively simple manner in which the duration of the output signal is measured after the appearance of the triggering pulse.
