The control valve (10) provided in the suction pipe section between the milking point and the flushing agent container (2) is designed as a floating valve with two suction pipes (11,12) mounted in the flushing agent container (2) for the air intake and the flushing agent intake. The open end of the air intake pipe (11) serves as the sealing seat (13) for a valve closing body (14) which floats up towards the seat. The seat (13) is set on the air intake pipe (11) higher by a predetermined amount than the open end of the flushing agent intake pipe (12). Thus when cleaning the milking machine the flushing agent is drawn in from the supply container with the air intake pipe closed until the level of flushing agent drops below the level of the valve seat and the valve closing body drops.
