The knife is esp. for the cutting of soft foods, e.g. cheese. The blade (1) of the knife has a cut-out section (5), extending over its complete length. The cut is divided by transverse webs (6). The size of the cut-out is dimensioned so that the stability of the knife is not reduced. The cut-out section prevents soft foods from sticking to the knife during cutting, and subsequent breakage of the knife.
