The hair dryer incorporates a hood (3) which dries more quickly and operates on a lower and more comfortable temp. than usual, thereby using less energy. The hood (3) has one or more air outlets (24), a fan (2), and a heater. A thermodynamic unit (1) includes a compressor (7), a condenser (8), a relief valve (10) and an evaporator (11). The evaporator (11) is positioned in the air duct between the air inlet (13) and outlets (24). The condenser (8) heats the air behind the evaporator (11), and both are situated in one housing (12).
