Angular flange flash strips for attachment to a retaining device, connectable to a flat roof structure, are fitted to top and bottom edges of a metal or plastic screening strip on the edge of a flat roof. The retaining device comprises a top, horizontal, U-shaped edge strip (2), with downward-facing stems (2a, 2b), the inner one (2b) being extended into a bent strip (2c) facing the roof skin. It cooperates with spaced vertical fitting stems (3), at right angles to the screening strip (1), mounted on a horizontal support device connected to the roof substructure. This flashing connection is inexpensive, but provides secure, weather proof retention, and is adaptable to any roof structure or screen strip height.
