Fluid level indicator suitable for oil or fuel tank - has float engaging helical slot causing rotation of magnetic coupling plate w.r.t. display glass

A device indicating the fluid level in a housing has a part with a float immersed in the fluid and a viewing glass part projecting outside the housing. A magnetic coupling is used to transfer the float movement for display against a scale in the glass. It is a robust, simply and economically made device which does not tend to tilt and whose components are protected against deformation on insertion. It is applicable to oil and fuel tanks etc. The cylindrical float has an axial passage into which one end of a rod fits with play. The other end of the rod is attached to a magnet plate. At the float (13) rises or falls it is rotated by a pin (14) engaging a helical housing slot (16) and therefore rotates the magnet plate forming part of the indicator (10).
