Gas washer for school laboratories - has descending and rising sides and provides break-up of large bubbles

A glass gas-washer partly filled with liq. for the cleaning/washing/absorption of gases is a U-tube or has two longitudinal descending and rising branches in a cylindrical casing and sepd. by a partition. Each branch has a gas inlet/outlet connection and at least one branch has an upper closure. At least the rising branch containing the gas outlet has at its base the insert for breaking up large bubbles. A U-tube can have an enlarged section to prevent liq. being sucked back. The apparatus is compact, economical in quantity of liq. used, safe, easy to clean and fill, even when already incorporated in apparatus. Suitable for reacting solids with liqs., in manner of Kipps apparatus. Designed with school laboratories in view.
