Compsns. which easily emulsify to oil-in-water emulsions are prepd. by either (a) mixing pure lecithin with water in ratio 1:0.5 to 1:3, and adding, drop by drop, oil or fat having a low OH-index, and stirring the mixt., or by (b) mixing pure lecithin with oil or fat having a low OH-index, in ratio 5:95 to 50:50, in the presence of alcohol, and then adding water to form the emulsion. Compsn. use as (i)washable water-in-oil creams, e.g. for skin creams, (ii) vehicles for hard and soft gelatin capsules and (iii) emulsifying suppository material is claimed. Non- toxic lecithin can be used as the only emulsifier. Component no. can be reduced to 3 or 4.
