Rubber prods. with improved mechanical properties are produced by heating and curing a blend of (A) diene rubber(s) and/or ethylene-propylene rubber(s) and (B) alpha,beta-ethylenically unsatd. carboxylic acid in an (A):(B) wt. ratio of 87:13 to 55:45, (C) 50-150 (wt.)% divalent metal cpd. w.r.t. (B), (D) 0.3-10% organic peroxide w.r.t. (A) + (B), (E) min. 0.1% sec. aryl-amine w.r.t. (A) + (B) and opt. (F) min. 0.1% reaction prod. of an amine with a ketone w.r.t. (A):(B). Incorporation of (E) and opt. (F) improved the resistance to abrasion, flexural fatigue and tear and increases the tensile strength, elongation at break (EB) etc. The blend can be used for making (pts. of) tyres, snow-clearing scrapers, various rollers, vehicle tracks, couplings, V-belts, hoses, buffers, chute and channel linings, seals etc.
