摘要
The computer assisted chess games uses a TV screen to display moves between a player and a computer. The chess board and outlines of the pieces are produced by a pattern generator connected to the antenna socket of the set. The player makes a move, assisted by either with a keyboard linked to the computer by IR remote control, or by a light pen applied to the TV screen. Controls are provided to erase a display and set up the start position; or to set up any position, e.g for a specific problem. A predetermined degree of difficulty of play may be selected via the computer. Progress of the game is controlled by display of the 'your move' signal. The square addressed, blinks on the screen, before moving a piece to a new position. An arrow on the screen points up or down to show whose move it is and blinks to declare 'check'.
