At least two panes of glass, where at least one pane is preheated, are fed into an assembly station in which the panes are aligned w.r.t. each other but spaced apart so a polymer foil can be placed in the gap. The foil is pressed and sealed against one pane and then the second pane is pressed against the foil to make a sealed assembly. In the pref. mass prodn. machine, two panes standing on edge are fed by conveyors through washing- and heating-stations, and then into an assembly station where the polymer foil is placed between the panes. A grid of resistance heating wires is pref. also located between the panes before the assembly is pressed together. Economic mass prodn. if high quality laminated glass is obtd.
