The cherry-stone removing machine consists of a trough with a perforated base to take the cherry, and a manually operated push rod (8) which is pressed down against the force of a return spring. The push rod (8) drives a stone-removing punch (21) which has a barbed head, which pushes the cherry stone out through a hole in the trough, and carries the de-stoned cherry to a scraper (44) which ejects the cherry in the opposite direction to that of the stone. A flat housing houses a plate-shaped sliding contact (6) which moves vertically inside it. The sliding contact (6) has a gently sloping elongated hole (12). The back end of the stone-removing punch (21) has an axle (25) protruding at right angles which fits into the elongated hole.
