Jig for supporting ceramic ware during baking in tunnel kiln - where jig is assembled from ceramic rings and tubes free to expand and contract without distortion

The ware is esp. glazed plates made of hard porcelain, and assembled as a vertical stack in the jig. The jig consists of vertical pillars mounted on a transporter travelling through the kiln. Pillars are used to support horizontal rods forming a rest for an outer ring; and in this ring is a second ring carrying a plate. Both rings possess a radial slot permitting expansion or contraction of the rings. Inner ring pref. rests on a shoulder in the bore of the outer ring; and rods pref. consist of tubes arranged as triangles under each outer ring. The jigs do not undergo cracking or distortion, so they have a satisfactory working life, and permit the distortion-free baking of the ceramic plates.
