Multi-span prestressed concrete bridge superstructure - has longitudinal stress members only in chord slabs, with stage joint anchorage

A stationary formwork unit is used for making sections to be monolithically joined to the part already concreted, comprising roadway slab, cross arms and base slab. The system is used in a multi-span bridge superstructure made of prestressed concrete. All the stress members for lengthways prestressing are located exclusively in the chord slabs. They are completely built in, in the course of superstructure building. They are anchored in a stage join, and stressed on the end phase of the last stage before the next stage span is concreted on. They may be pressed immediately, or after the stage has been moved along.
