Dissolved silver salt removal from water - by passing through filter contg. hydrophilic porous di:vinylbenzene-crosslinked polystyrene contg. complexing Gps.
Dissolved Ag salts are removed from water by passing the water through a hydrophilic, highly porous, crosslinked polymer (I) contg. complexing gps. for the Ag ions. In a pref. embodiment, the water is subsequently passed through a 2nd hydrophilic, highly porous, crosslinked polymer (II) contg. reducing gps. A filter is also claimed contg. a nest of tubes (1) assembled to form a filter unit filled with polymer (I). Filter is used to remove Ag ions from drinking water disinfected by anodic oxidn. with Ag electrodes. The Ag ion content can be reduced to less than 0.3 (less than 0.1) mg/l, e.g. 0.05 mg/l. The filters are small and compact.
