De-centralised electric power and heating plant - uses gas turbine to drive power generator and hot exhaust gases for heating purposes

The decentralised power plant is intended for family houses, block of flats, and possible small industrial plants. The combination of electric power and heat generation for a household can achieve up to 90% efficiency as compared with conventional 25 to 30% of normal power plants. The system uses a gas turbine for a generator drive, and the exhaust gas heat energy is used for heating or preparation of hot water. This system may be combined with solar energy collection, both for current generation and heating. The current generation may be provided by solar cells. The daily demand may be covered by heat storage arrangements, e.g. using electrochemical batteries. In case of a turbine failure a 12 V d.c. or 220 V a.c. starter may be applied for emergency operation.
