摘要
Abrasive grains(I) are mixed with glass frits, adhesives, and a small amt. of water to obtain a moist mixt. The mixt. is pressed into mouldings, which are dried and sintered, and then crushed to obtain agglomerated grains(II) much larger than grains(I). Grains(I) are pref. used in the ratio 3-7:1 with the inorganic binders when grains(I) possess a size of P80 to P320 according to FEPA. Grains(I) are pref. corundum, SiC, or ZrO2; and combustible materials may be included in the initial mixt. to form pores in grains(II). Grains(II) are pref. used on a substrate, e.g. an abrasive be or are bonded with synthetic resins or ceramics to make rigid grinding wheels etc. Grains(II) have high mechanical and thermal stability, providing abrasive- or grinding- tools with long working life.
