Parent patent described a cable with one or more thermoplastic- or elastomer sheaths, and where the conductors are directly covered by a high-strength, woven and stretchable mesh fabric(I). In this addn.,fabric (I) is strip, 0.1-1.2, pref. 0.2-0.8 mm thick, with an average wt. of 20-400 g/sq.mm, esp. 40-200 g/sq.mm (sic, text states g/sq.m.); and the mesh width permits a conductor layer (II) used for smoothing to enter the holes in the mesh. Strip (I) is pref. bent to form a tube with overlapping edges round the conductors; or forms a helical winding with overlapping edges; and strip(I) is pref. made of a semiconductor material. A suitable conducting or non-conducting material (I) is nylon.
