Control for tunnelling machine - has devices which measure machines angle and vertical displacement from tunnel axis

The control has a measuring device (5) measuring the angle between the long axis (2) of the tunnelling machine (1) and a fixed axis in a gyro compass (10) defining a horizontal plane. A second system (11) with four interconnected pipe branches (12,13) determining the longitudinal and transverse inclination of the machine from the long axis (3) of the section (4) of tunnel already excavated. Three of the pipe branches occupy a horizontal plane at the corners of a triangle whilst the third is located in the constructed section of the tunnel.
