ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREThe present invention provides electricity meteringapparatus which, preferably, is designed in the form of an add-on attachment for a conventional watt-hour electricity meter.sensor generates pulses, the repetition rate of which isdependent on the rate of consumption of units of electricity,and the total number of which determine the number of units ofelectricity consumed. The meter would provide indication ofusage of power exceeding a preset limit. These pulse are fedselectively to one of a plurality of accumulator-registers whichcount and store the pulses by means of a gating circuit operatingunder the control of a control device. The control devicegates the pulses to a selected one of the registers accordingto the time of day, day of the week, or season etc. so thateach register counts the number of units consumed in theparticular period associated with that register. In this manner,different charges may be made for different periods of the dayetc., so as to encourage the consumer to use electricity attimes when there is not a heavy demand on the electricitygenerating equipment. In this manner, the load curve can beflattened so as to reduce the total amount of generating capacityrequired.
