The protective boot is for a universal joint, particularly one driving vehicle wheels. It is made of rubber or similar material in bellows form with several radial peripheral folds. The outer ends of the flanks (9) of the folds (10) merge into rings (22-25) wide enough to cover the gaps (7) between the adjacent flanks from outside. The rings can be of cone section, their wall thickness being greater (4) than that (6) of the fold flanks, while their cone angles increase (17) towards the universal joint (18).
