The digitiser for the conversion of graphical information into a form suitable for manipulation by a digital processor, is designed to minimise the degree of operator skill required and to increase the operating speed. The system is of the type in which a probe is located at a point on a drawing and is then recorded in digital form. The system utilises a working surface that has a photo-electrical scanning facility to provide a grid reference location in relation to the drawing. An electronic probe is passed around the drawing profiles and the values related to the reference by a process computer.
