Pulverised coal feed for fluidised-bed furnace - distributes coal and air through hollow beams above bed

The continuous feeding of pulverised coal into a fluidised-bed combustion chamber involves injecting the coal and secondary air at least partially, but pref. entirely, from above so as to cover the entire fluidised bed surface. To achieve this a row of coplanar hollow beams (8) is run full-width above the fluidised bed. The beams of water-cooled finned tubes (19,20; 23,24) welded together, are divided into upper (9) and lower (10) channels. A coal transporter and distributor (13,14) runs the length of the lower channel which has slots (11,12) along its bottom corners. The upper one carries secondary air, distributed through downwards-angled nozzles (15,16) along both sides, generating a vortex.
