The capillary glass tube is for measurement equipment and has an expanded chamber at one end and colouring on one side for improved readability of the liquid column position. It is partic. applicable as a thermometer tube and is designed for economical mfr. whilst retaining good operating characteristics. The capillary tube (1) and the expanded chamber (3) are made of the same glass tube. A coloured coating (11) is applied to the near of the tube. The coating may be different on different arms of the glass tube and is applied by screen or roller printing. The expanded chamber may be arranged eccentrically w.r.t the capillary tube. This makes it easier to attach the tube to a scale plate and to mount it nearer the scale for more accurate reading.
