The plastics card is printed with the same numbers as the original Lotto sheet and is of the same size so that it covers it exactly. The boundaries of the number fields are pre-stamped such that they remain in position despite torsion and bending yet are readily removed by, e.g. the tip of a ball-point pen. The resulting holes allow a pen to cross the selected numbers accurately without transgressing into neighbouring number fields. The stencil thus enables the favoured numbers to be filled in quickly each week and serves as a storage device and aide- memoire for the same. The colouring chosen can have a greater contrast than the yellow dictated by the demands of machine readability. At last, blind people can join in.
