A coin operated unit is designed to be triggered by a number of different denomination coins operating on preset lever mechanisms. The insertion of coins produces a change in the value displayed on a number of counter wheels (30), mounted on a common shaft. Each coin denomination is intended to operate a lever (50-52) to trigger a specific display wheel. The trigger levers are in contact with a pawl (43-45) that operates against a ratchet wheel (6). Every time a coin of the correct denomination is inserted, the weight causes operation of the pawl and the number is registered.
