The control system allows regulated engagement of tools on a mineral-extracting machine in a mine, where the machine is moved along a working face on an abutment, esp. a coal plane. The guide link-rod system vertically hinged to a support frame, has an upward bent end section hinged to the abutment at an interval above the seam floor. A push-rod is integrated into the system and is hinged to the abutment at a vertical interval below the system stop hinge, in the floor area; and coupled to a swivel unit. This provides a defined stop, checking excessive abutment swivelling, so that a predetermined plunge angle is not exceeded.
