Modified stitch plate for double needle overlocking machine - guides threads into common needle hole for improved seam-locking

The stitch-plate of a double-needle overlock sewing machine has curved guide surfaces opposite and below the left-hand stitch forming tongue which direct the last-formed stitches into the right-hand needle-hole when the stitches are drawn off the tongue by withdrawal of the finished workpiece from the machine. From this position, the chain-stitch tail can be drawn backwards against the material-feed direction and secured neatly in the leading edge of the seam on the next workpiece. This arrangement eliminates the untidy seam commencement with projecting threads which is produced with standard double-needle stitch-plates.
