Coal-refuse mixt. utilisation - by pyrolysis followed by crushing and fluidised bed combustion

The Parent Patent No. 2943309 described a two-stage process for the pyrolysis of a mixt. of coal and refuse in the first stage and a conversion to fuel gas in the second stage. The second stage is now not performed in a gasification reactor but in a fluidised bed which is charged with the crushed pyrolysis coke. Additional types of fuel can be added before or after the crushing operation. This results in an efficient thermal utilisation of prods. such as slurries which otherwise are not suitable for gasification.
