The device for conversion of water wave energy into a usable form has a frame (10) and a carriage (11) which moves up and down relative to the frame. A track on the frame set at an angle to the horizontal defines a lower and an upper position. A floating body (20) is displaced on the track from the lower to the upper position by pressure from waves or swell in the sea, wherewith energy generated by the movement of the floating body can be converted to mechanical or other forms of energy.
