Small recharger for button batteries or cells - has threaded socket for screwing into torch, dashboard etc. to exploit cheaper battery power

The recharging appts. is for miniature cells or batteries, e.g. button batteries, as used in electronic watches and clocks, cameras, light meters and pocket calculators. It uses a d.c. source available in other electrical devices at a much cheaper rate, e.g. pocket torch, motor car battery. A socket (1) that can be screwed in, in place of the normal torch bulb or in a dashboard socket, has a contact plate (4) mounted on top. A compensating resistor (2) is installed between this plate (4) and a lower connecting point on the socket (1). A battery or cell retainer (5) is provided opposite the contact plate (4). This retainer also serves as a current supply conductor for the cell or battery to be charged.
