In numerical controls with a closed position control circuit, there is the problem that the position of a vehicle (actual value) actually adopted differs from the programmed position (desired value) as a result of the offset voltages of the analog outputs (14, 17) of the numerical control (13) and of the motor control (21). In order to avoid deviations of this kind, a voltage is emitted at the analog output (14) of the numerical control (13) which is a function of the difference between desired value and actual value and at least one stored offset distance. The offset distances generated by the position control circuit are previously automatically averaged by the numerical control (13) over specific time periods and the resulting average values are accumulated in a memory of the numerical control (13) with the correct sign.
