Steering control for articulated vehicle - has middle section linked to steered trailer axle for controlled tracking

The steering control is intended for an articulated vehicle with a rear driven axle on the trailer and with a single steering axle on the front unit. The front of the trailer has a middle axle which is steered w.r.t. the front section to provide controlled tracking and to prevent the power unit from pushing the middle axle outwards on corners. The pivot axis is fitted with a control plate linked to the front unit by control rods. The plate is also linked to the front axle of the trailer by a second control rod to provide a directly related lock on the trailer axle, as the vehicle drives round corners. The tracking control is simple and automatic and requires no complex servo drive.
